If you love traveling and do it all the time, you probably love how exhilarating it is to be somewhere new and different. Everybody needs a little change of scenery now and then. But on the other hand, traveling can be draining.

That’s why self-care while traveling is so important. The last thing you want is to feel emotionally drained when you’re supposed to be having fun. Here are 7 ways you can practice self-care while traveling:

Drink Plenty of Fluids

It’s fun to stock up on soda and energy drinks while you’re traveling. If you’re driving, you may feel like you need a little extra pick-me-up to keep you going. But don’t forget to bring a lot of water with you too. Coffee, soda, and other drinks can give you energy in the moment, but they’ll end up leaving you a little dehydrated.

Plan ahead of time to get water. If your arrangements don’t have water handy, like at a hotel, pick up some water before you get there. Grab a pack of water bottles or bring a reusable water bottle. You’ll thank yourself later when you have water handy. Check out Hydros Bottle LLC for reusable water bottles.

Sleep Well

Sleeping well can be really difficult, especially while you’re traveling. You’re in a different bed, or you may be in a completely different tim

e zone. Some people can go a day or two without good sleep. That’s okay, but not everyone functions well when they’re tired.

Take extra measures to get a good night’s sleep. If you’ve got jet lag, don’t sleep in or take a nap the next day. Wake up on time so you can get used to the time change. If you don’t have a big time difference, just make sure you get to bed early. Bring your own pillow and keep your room at a comfortable te

mperature so you’re ready for the day.

Remember to Eat Foods With Color

It’s extra tempting to eat junk food when you’re on the road. While eating extra sugar gives you a short sugar high, it’ll lead to a crash pretty soon after. Part of self-care while traveling is eating healthy food even while you’re not at home. It’ll keep your body feeling better, more energetic, and you won’t feel as tired at the end of the day.

Take a Break from Your Phone

You’re getting out and traveling to experience a different part of the world. So why on earth would you need to be glued to your phone? You probably want to post photos and let your mom know you’re okay. But bringing your phone along will only prevent you from getting the full experience of your new location.

Try leaving your phone at your accommodation during the day, and only reaching for it at night. If you need your phone for photos during the day, put your phone on airplane mode so you’re not tempted to browse social media or text.

Take a Walk

If your travel plans include lots of hiking, swimming, and outdoor activity, then you may not need an extra reminder to exercise. But if you’re going on a more relaxing retreat, give yourself some self-care while traveling by taking a walk.

Whether you opt for a treadmill at the hotel, a local walking trail, hiking at a near by state park or even mall walking, simply walking for ten minutes a day greatly improves your physical and mental well-being. If you are going outside for your walk, be sure to pick up Shop Sonrei Sea Clearly Gel Sunscreen SPF 30 at Sonrei.com to protect your skin for today and the future.

A little exercise or walking can help you sleep better at night, feel more relaxed during the day, and you’ll get to view the city you came to see.

Give Yourself Time

It’s easy to overbook yourself during your trip. If you’ve never been somewhere before, you may want to go sightseeing morning through evening without any breaks. Just remember that although traveling is exciting and fun, you are not a machine. Your brain and body need to rest, especially when you’re in an unfamiliar location.

Give yourself a little time to decompress in the evenings before you go to bed. Consider listening to your favorite new book from AudiobooksNow.com or picking up an adult Coloring Books at Calendars.com. Or if you can’t possibly do that, try to sleep in a little the next day. You won’t appreciate the interesting things on your trip if you’re tired, so give yourself permission to mentally rest as well.

Get an Accommodation with a Kitchen

One reason you’re probably looking forward to traveling is not having to prepare your meals. Going out to eat is a fun part of traveling, but it can get tiring to have to run out and grab something every time you’re hungry.

Book yourself an accommodation with a kitchen so you can have some meals ready to go on hand. This also gives you a chance to have personal self-care while traveling so you can eat some healthy meals. Self-care while traveling is important, so remember to think about it when you’re planning your next vacation.
